Family budgeting software?

January 11th, 2018 at 10:13 pm

I am really accustom to doing things on my own and now that I'm married, I'm hoping that I can find some kind of software or program that I can share with my wife that allows us to do some budgeting.

I do use mint but mostly to see my net worth, I don't really use the budgeting aspect of it. I don't really want to pay too much...I peeked at YNAB and it's $$$.

Care to share what you use? Can two people equally use a budgeting plan or does it really boil down to one person managing it and the other following along?

Thanks

We use YNAB, I have the old version that I paid just a one time fee for. My husband enters in his receipts, so that's helpful. He is definitely more involved with YNAB than he was without it.

I would look at Dave Ramsey's software, EveryDollar. I'm pretty sure that is free.

I use personal capital for NW, and then I have a shared GoogleDoc (GoogleSheets - essentially Excel) for budgeting....we can both access it online at any time.

I just use Excel. I have a spreadsheet for monthly spending, one for the monthly budget, one for my variables spending and one for annual spending. Also one that calculates my net worth. It's pretty easy to do and free, if you don't mind using multiple sheets.

Like CB, I just use a form of spreadsheets, but use Google since it is free and can be used on multiple devices and can be edited on any of those devices.
